Setting Sun Linn Run
Late spring, visiting with friends in the Laurel Mountains, one of my friends suggested a walk in the woods at the nearby Linn State Park, so I threw my camera pack and tripod over my shoulder and we were off.
This image was taken on a trail that leads to Beam Rock as the sun was setting. The darkening woods and vibrant green ferns almost emanated coolness as the last of the sun’s golden rays slipped under the green canopy of the forest. It was the kind of peaceful scene that makes you breath deep, as if you can inhale the soothing calm.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
